Birdie Brigade
Creating a game with a friend
2024 - Present
About a year ago a friend and I wanted to combine our two passions: his, software development and mine, design. Creating a video game was the perfect blend.
Skills
3D Modeling: Used Blender to model and sculpt game assets
Texturing: Hand painted textures using Procreate to keep style consistent
Starting with a goal
From the start, we wanted to challenge ourselves to make a 2 player game. After some initial brainstorming, we came up with pitting birds and squirrels against each other for seeds in the forest. But the details were still blurry. We sat down and started listing out ideas for how these birds and squirrels would interact with each other.
Drawing out the Characters
After leaning toward a two-player combat strategy game. I drew up the squirrel and bird soldiers
Bird and Squirrel Bases
The ultimate goal of the game is to destroy the other player’s home base.

Hand Painted Textures
Each model is hand-painted using Procreate to keep the overall aesthetic consistent. I then bring these textures into Blender where I wrap them around the models.
Resources and Structures
Collecting resources (seeds, sticks, pebbles, and acorns) allows players to create armor, weapons, and structures, such as bridges, that give an advantage over their opponent.
